NPI Program Manager
Excelitas Technologies - Mississauga, ON

Position Overview

 The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities associated with all new product development projects. Utilizing the principles of project management and the Excelitas Industrial and Biomedical Lighting portfolio and Design Control Processes, the incumbent will plan, organize, lead, and monitor the activities of cross-functional project teams while maintaining overall control of the schedule, budget and committed deliverables. The Project Manager's role is both strategic and tactical in focus, with broad contact and coordination with a variety of teams across the company.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
•Assume direct project management role for major development projects with responsibility for meeting schedule and budgetary targets. Ensure that project information is always up-to-date, provide regular status updates to the project stakeholders and prepare monthly reports for the NPI Program Manager
•Assume responsibility/ ownership of project from inception to commercial release
•Provide effective leadership of projects, communication, execution & coordination of project activities
•Work with cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies, remove or mitigate roadblocks, act on issues of non-compliance, and facilitate communication among all project stakeholders. Ensure effective tracking of outstanding deliverables, milestones, and change requests
•Responsible for the coordination and the administration of engineering & operations’ resources allocated to new product development projects to maximize efficiency and meet all necessary deliverables
•Work with the NPI Program Manager to set annual budgets and assist in planning of resources to achieve strategic business objectives related to new product development
•Maintain and improve an effective project management process compatible with a rapid product development environment. The process must accommodate the principles of the ISO 9001 & ISO 14001 design control process, concurrent engineering and design for manufacturability. It must integrate with the corporate design control, gating and Portfolio processes. LDGI process must rank as “best-in-class” in terms of efficiency and effectiveness, maximizing the return on investment on new product development. Specific responsibilities include:
o Stay abreast of industry best practices, examine internal lessons learned, and make recommendations to the Engineering Manager regarding possible improvements to the design control process

 o Coordinate the implementation of process improvements

 o Maintain and enhance the tools and methods used to support the project management process

 o Coordinate Gating and Portfolio meetings and presentations
•Utilize and improve on existing systems to monitor all projects to ensure compliance with the design control process, and to communicate to the NPI Program Manager issues that may threaten the schedule, cost or performance of a project. Audit all completed projects to ensure that they are properly documented
•Propose/ review changes to existing processes in order to maximize efficiency / shorten product development timelines
•University degree in a technical field with minimum 5 years practical experience in project planning and scheduling.
•PMP designation preferred
•Ability to work closely with all key stakeholders to communicate progress and facilitate buy-in
•Team player with the ability to work in a faced-paced multi-disciplined product development environment
•Proven track record as an innovative and resourceful problem solver.
•Excellent communication and leadership skills.
