The Center for Advanced Microscopy (CAM) and Nikon Imaging Center (NIC) at Northwestern University in Chicago is looking to hire a new Confocal Microscopy Technologist at the level of Senior Research Technologist. This individual would be responsible for supporting and maintaining our confocal laser scanning microscopes, including training facility users to operate confocal microscopes. This individual must have significant microscopy experience, and also be able to help facility users with experimental planning and troubleshooting. Additionally, the ideal candidate will also have an understanding of optics and microscopy operation to aid in troubleshooting, as well as experience managing shared instrumentation. Additional duties include weekly microscope cleaning, maintenance and interaction with service personnel.
CAM is the microscopy core facility for the Feinberg School of Medicine of Northwestern University in downtown Chicago. We currently consist of six members of staff who provide training, support and assistance for light and electron microscopy to a wide user base. CAM includes one of the nine elite worldwide Nikon Imaging Centers, and we maintain a large cadre of instrumentation for sample preparation, image acquisition and image analysis.
