The Netherlands Cancer Institute - Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital (NKI-AVL) is looking for a fulltime

OPERATOR ADVANCED MICROSCOPY
(36 hours per week)

The position:
The Netherlands Cancer Institute is soon purchasing a new, state-of-the-art microscope for advanced digital analysis of cellular processes. This high-content screening microscope system will be operational within the Digital Microscopy Facility and the research group of dr. Kees Jalink. Other research groups from the NKI or from outside the institute will make use of the system.
The operator has to ensure optimal performance of the system, see to adequate data storage and train the users. He/she will also be involved in maintenance, support and teaching for other advanced microscopy systems within the NKI (FRET, FLIM, etc.) in close collaboration with dr. Jalink and the staff of the Digital Microscopy Facility.

Requirements:
We are looking for an enthusiastic, interactive researcher with relevant post-doctoral research experience. He/she has to set up and maintain the instrumentation, establish an effective infrastructure for high-end digital microscopy using advanced equipment, have experience with image processing and analysis, maintain effective communication with the users of the microscope systems and the other operators.

Employment conditions:
The appointment is initially for 4 years after which it will be evaluated; the function will get a permanent character if it turns out to be a substantial asset to the Institute. The gross salary per month for a full time employment (36 hours per week) is
€ 3114,-  to € 3984,- according to the FWG-function group 55-60. The terms of employment will be according to the Collective Labor Agreement for Hospitals in the Netherlands.
