Please find below details for a job opportunity in the laboratory of
Prof Achillefs Kapanidis (cced).

Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Single-Molecule Imaging
Department of Physics, Parks Road, Oxford
Grade 7: £30,434 - £37,394 p.a.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant in the
Biological Physics Research Group under the supervision of Professor
Achilles Kapanidis. This post is funded by a European Research Council
(ERC) proof-of-concept grant and is particularly relevant for those
interested in research commercialisation. The project will involve
development of cutting-edge single-molecule fluorescence imaging
instrumentation.

The post is available initially for a fixed-term duration of 10 months,
with the possibility of extension.

The postholder will be expected to adapt and develop imaging
experiments, analyse fluorescence images and timetraces, and prepare
scientific reports.

Applicants should possess, or be very close to obtaining a doctorate in
the fields of physics, optics, biophysics or a related field, and
ideally have a strong background in optics and photonics; any industry
experience is desirable. Candidates should have advanced knowledge of
optical techniques and instrumentation development. Experience in
single-molecule biophysical techniques is highly desirable. Knowledge of
data-analysis methods and experience in design, fluidics and
nanofabrication are desirable as is a background in MATLAB or similar
languages.

Please direct enquiries about the role to Professor Achilles Kapanidis
