The Chair of Biological Imaging (CBI) at the Technical University of Munich and the Institute of Biological and Medical Imaging (IBMI) of the Helmholtz Zentrum München in Munich, Germany are seeking a highly qualified and motivated Postdoctoral fellow in microscopy (f/m).

The mission:
Fueled by a novel ERC award, the successful candidate will make seminal contributions within an innovative microscopy program which combines optical and optoacoustic methods with microfluidic approaches for next-generation biological sensing. The project leaves significant flexibility for independent development and innovation for the motivated scientist and is expected to provide new insights in biomedical discovery. The project is geared toward system and methodology development of an advanced imaging system and links to activities within TranslaTUM, synergizing with oncologists and immunologists in a highly stimulating and collaborative environment. Technical progress is expected to further lead to important biological breakthroughs and translation into clinical diagnostics.

Your profile:
A successful applicant should have:
- High motivation, scientific curiosity and commitment to scientific excellence
- University degree with a Ph.D. in physics, engineering or a related field.
- Documented excellence in studies (high cumulative bachelor’s and Master’s grades, scientific publications)
- Experience in at least one of optics, lasers, microscopy, microfluidics or cell sensing areas.
- Programming skills in MATLAB / Labview for device control and synchronization
- Team player skills and enthusiasm to work in a multi-disciplinary, collaborative environment
- Excellent command of the English language
Preferred skills further include any of experience in optical systems development, knowledge on image processing and data analysis.
