LASER vs Fluo4 vs contration rate

Hi everyone,

Does Fluo 4 and/or the 488 nm Argon Laser line  could contribute to slow the
rate of the spontaneous transient in heart myocyte (ventricular, atrial, SAN)?

Does anyone have read or notice that event in their own experiment?  
References would be appreciated also!!!!

Hi

A complicated question. As a buffer, fluo-4 will affect Ca cycling and Ca cycling is implicated in SA nodal discharge rate (See Lakatta group papers for a start)(etc.). Focussed laser light can damage cells as well. In experiments one tries to minimise such effects… So the problem boils down to if you don’t affect the system in some way you can’t measure anything.
