Hi,
I am new in the list and no expert on microscopy at all.
We have a 10 years old LSM700 and the 488 laser is dying.
I know that the old laser is a Furukawa / FITEL Blue Fiber Laser Module 488
nm HPU50212 (10mW). I contacted Zeiss and they suggested to install an
Upgrade Kit Laser line 488 (Zeiss reference 000000-2187-940) at a what I
think a very high price. This is  a Lasos laser of the same characteristics
but they did not tell me the model. Does any of you have any info about
this upgrade?
A company has suggested us to install a  Cobolt 06-01 Fiber Pigtailed with
30mW but they are not sure if it could be possible to control it with the
Zen Zeiss software. They suggest to contact Zeiss and see if they can
install it.
We just like to exchange our laser (as it is fading away) saving as much
money as possible (our budget is very limited) and we wonder if there are
alternatives.
what would you suggest? I would appreciate any expert opinion in this issue.
many, many thanks
Enrique

In the past we have had lasers repaired locally at https://www.laser-support.co.uk/bespoke-repair-services. Might be worth dropping them an email.
