Hi Alby, Don't do it. Stay with our community. Your post this morning was to a researchgate page of one of your articles: nothing wrong with that (in my opinion - our moderator, may point out a rule that you bent). Your other post today was even better in that you were asking for similar papers (that one could have been better with more text in your post). If anyone wants a lesson on ethics (whether posting to the C.L. or elswhere), I encourage reading this: http://iveybusinessjournal.com/enron-explained/ AF: First of all, let me say, the terrible thing about prison is not the pain of incarceration, it’s the pain of separation ... I haven't commented on this list for a long time, but have always been enjoying reading all contributions over the last years, whichever topic was touched, one could always learn from it. It is sad to see that when someone is posting a link to a paper which is of general microscopy interest and of which I'm sure most people here could learn a lot, gets replied to in such an non-thankful manner. I guess reading about what screw to use to couple a laser in is of more importance than expanding your knowledge and understanding of microscopy. Not that I agree into posting all papers related to (confocal) microscopy, I certainly see the point there, but it does require some common sense into deciding whether a paper could be of general interest or not. What I personally would've enjoyed though would've been a short description of what's written in the paper, rather than just posting a link. It's sad to read that a very knowledgeable person would be leaving this list as a result of trying to share & spread knowledge. Yes, Alby, thanks for the link and generally keeping the list informed of the microscopy goings on in Italy and your broader area. I also would have enjoyed a brief paragraph about the paper alongside the link, as it is broadly relevant to the field and I look forward to reading it. Microscopists need to do more on quantification of systems, plus research and publications on calibrations and standards, and I am working on a project in this area. I will send you an email.
It's cool to discuss how the list is used, imo, but it would be more helpful as a debate. Should users post their latest research? Sometimes they should. Highlighting your own and other's papers broadly relevant to the field, such as papers about characterizing optical systems, new methods, is interesting to me. Dear all,
I am very sorry, I completely misunderstood the post from Alberto Diaspro this morning. I value his contribution to the list as I hope does anyone else and apologize for my post. Please stay Alberto!

I'd like you to stay please, Alberto. I value your contributions to the list, and to the microscopy community. I've used the list to share my publications, and I enjoy seeing publications from Alberto and others. I'm always happy with the resulting discussions, both on-list and off-list. Dear all--
In response to George's request, Dr. Diaspro has been one of our most active and enthusiastic contributors and I'm unaware of any rule that has been violated or bent by him. I'm personally grateful that he posted the link to the OTF paper since it's a topic I'd like to understand better. Martin Wessendorf List Manager On 12/3/2016 12:56 PM, George McNamara
