For Biomedical Science
Sensory Neuroscience Research Center
West Virginia University

The West Virginia University Research Corporation (WVURC) seeks a full-time
manager (MS or higher degree in physics or engineering preferred) for the
light microscopic imaging and image analysis facility in the Sensory
Neuroscience Research Center (SNRC; http://www.hsc.wvu.edu/wvucn/people.php)
at West Virginia University. This facility is a joint venture between the
SNRC and the WVU Nanosciences Initiative.

Responsibilities include: develop applications of non-linear optical (NLO)
techniques to biomedical science, maintain and optimize current NLO system
which has second harmonic generation, third harmonic generation, coherent
anti-Stokes Raman scattering and two-photon imaging capabilities, computer
program development for image analysis, and identification of new equipment
for acquisition. This individual should have appropriate training and
expertise in optics and maintenance of optical microscopes and lasers and
interest in and ability to train others in experimental methods. Familiarity
with C-language and Matlab and a variety of operating systems is highly
desirable. Expertise with imaging biological systems is also desired.
Applicants should have an interest in learning and remaining current with
new imaging techniques and applications. This individual will also manage
computing systems associated with imaging equipment, assist investigators in
troubleshooting hardware problems, and participate in the submission of
grant applications to acquire additional equipment for the imaging core
facility.

Equipment housed by the Center includes a NLO system with Ti:sapphire and
OPO lasers, laser diagnostics, inverted microscope and upright imaging
system for in vitro and in vivo animal imaging and combined
electrophysiology, confocal microscope with off-line image analysis station,
live cell imaging systems for integrating image capture and
electrophysiology and detecting fluorescent biochemicals at low-light
levels, intrinsic in-vivo optical imaging system and integrated hardware and
software for quantitative transmitted light and fluorescence microscopy.

A highly competitive salary, commensurate with qualifications, and moving
expenses to Morgantown will be provided with this position.  Comprehensive
benefits package offered. Morgantown is rated as one of the best small towns
