Hi all there...
I run an old (understatement...) 1024 UV system with the Dell 2300 Poweredge server, but still with the equally outdated OS/2 (yes ! It still works !). Apparently, my Matrox G200 board has died. Since it will be unlikely to find an identical substitute, has anyone tried alternative models/brands and how the OS/2 driver would work ?? My sincere thanks to any input ! Renato,
Google "Matrox G200" - there seems to be lots of them for $50 to $100 Cheers! Have you tried contacting Matrox for repair?

Don't know about Brazil but there are a number of used computer places around and they have salvaged video cards from older systems and they might have an older Matrox at a good price.

Your best source for this type of kit is Ebay - there are currently 150 Matrox g200 cards listed, maybe with a "buy it now option". You should be able to secure one for not more than $25.00. There may be some merit in buying a couple, from different places to be absolutely certain you get one that works. (My experience of Ebay is that stuff usually does work...)
What makes you so certain that it is the graphics card that has failed? You might have to consider purchasing a second hand but identical server. There is a good chance that other components will fail in due course, and the longer you leave it, the harder replacement components are to find... For any old graphics card just get it from eBay [it'll be a few euros]. I
found twenty Matrox G200s on sale, one touted as new [starting price 1p]. These cards, like sound cards, tend to run forever in PC terms, and cost pennies now they are obsolete. Even the London Underground uses eBay for spares.... You could even go wild and get a G450 if you have the OS/2 drivers. Dear Renato,
I hope everything is well with you since our paths last crossed. Firstly, it is possible that Zeiss still have some stock of the MATROX MILLENIUM G220 SD PCI cards, Zeiss part number: 000000-1317-395 If not, then I may be able to lay my hands on a used compatible Matrox card, if I dig around a bit. We could let you have this for a nominal fee (to cover the cost of admin and shipping). Additionally, the Matrox OS/2 PM Display Driver Version 2.58.144 can be used for Matrox G400, Matrox G450, MGA Millennium/Mystique, MGA-G100/MGA-G200, its the same driver for all these older cards. One other source might possibly a decommissioned MRC-1024UV system (not sure if it's Marco Prado's), I understand that the constituent parts are still around in Belo Horizonte. If you need a copy of the drivers, we can email them to you. I hope this information helps. Please contact us off-line if we can assist further. Thanks Steve and all the inputs.
I am currently waiting to check whether the repaired motherboard and the not-yet arrived video card will do the trick.
