Be the primary source for advanced training, application support and knowledge for the sales representatives in your territory. Keep up to date on advances in hardware, software, applications and new technology. Provide feedback to the product teams for future product development. Be able to solve customer’s application issues and provide this information back to the entire team. Contribute to boosting the level of all Advanced BioSystems Application core team members on Imaging and Confocal applications. Key areas of responsibility: - Work with the Advanced BioSystems Core team to develop and provide training programs for all microscopy, Imaging, and Confocal products with emphasis on Nikon Advanced System solutions. - Endeavor to be the top communicators in Nikon instruments, bridging the factory and product managers with the sales channels and end users. - Develop and disseminate Application Notes. - Support both the direct and dealer sales teams on key demos. - Provide the first tier of technical and application support to the customers and sales representatives with respect to core microscopy products. Summarize and communicate these issues with the product team. - Provide/suggest advanced application solutions for customers and sales representatives. Provide feedback to the team and all the sales reps regarding these customer solutions. - Work with the dealers in your territory to provide training and support on imaging and microscope products and develop action plans to raise the commitment level for Nikon products and system solutions. - Assess the level of knowledge of imaging within the direct and dealer sales force. Provide feedback and develop action plans for increasing the product and sales skills for the sales representatives in your territory. - Attend courses, trade shows, and work with key researchers and third party vendors to develop understanding and expertise regarding advanced biological research and clinical applications that utilize our products. - Work with and provide feedback to the Product group (>GMG,SCT, NSST) for new technology and future product development directions. - Ability to provide basic software macro support for sales persons and dealers. - Work with the Software Department on identifying, designing, installing and supporting custom applications. - Target “High Impact” researchers and develop relationships for validation and evaluation. - Keep up to date on all competitor activities and help develop plans to overcome competitive issues. - Work outside of normal hours of operation, as needed, in order to fulfill essential functions and responsibilities. - Provide weekly reports on daily activities in territory. - Provide Monthly report on Key Events, Product Issues, Lost Orders, Business Trends, Emerging Applications, and objectives for the upcoming month. - All other duties as required or needed. - Ability to travel overnight (up to 40%). Qualifications: - BS in Biological or Scientific Field of Study or significant relevant experience, MS or Ph.D. desirable - 5+ years experience working in the bio research capital equipment market place; particularly in a technical support role. Experience in the microscope industry, especially in an imaging and/or confocal capacity is a plus. - Solid understanding of both computer software, hardware and networking applications. - Advanced Knowledge of Light Microscopy and Digital Imaging related to advanced biological research Education, skills & experience: - BS in Biological or Scientific Field of Study or significant relevant experience, MS or Ph.D. desirable - 5+ years experience working in the bio research capital equipment market place; particularly in a technical support role. Experience in the microscope industry, especially in an imaging and/or confocal capacity is a plus. - Solid understanding of both computer software, hardware and networking applications. - Advanced Knowledge of Light Microscopy and Digital Imaging related to advanced biological research - Must be proficient with Microsoft applications (e.g. Word, Excel and PowerPoint) - Understanding and experience with advanced fluorescence, laser and confocal microscope applications. - Experience in providing corporate training, technical support, and education on highly technical equipment and/or scientific applications - Knowledge of some programming or macro languages a plus - Demonstrated, strong effective presentation skills - Excellent communication skills - Be able to comprehend complex topics and present them in understandable format. - Ability to work outside of regularly scheduled work hours as needed. - Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. - Ability to communicate information verbally and in writing so that others will understand. - Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. - Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.
