Nikon SFC issues

Dear All,

We have a Nikon LiveScan Swept Field system with 488, 568 and 647 Lasers,
ASI stage, MCL Piezo and an Andor DU897 EMCCD camera. Recently we have been
having issues with triggering. During single/multipoint acquisition with
multiwavelength, the system will acquire the same wavelength in 2 or all 3
image captures, even though the live view is correct. Adjusting the camera
readout speed can sometimes cure this but not always. We have tried swapping
the camera cables, the camera itself and reinstalling the Elements software,
but to no avail. Since both I and Nikon have run out of ideas, I was
wondering if anyone else had this problem and if they were able to cure it?

Thanks

Cliff

Dear Cliff,
we have the same configuration as the one you reported.
In our experience the only way to bypass this problem is by checking
the camera exposure time and using the one suggested by the software
(marking the square with the mark) or with a slower acquisition time using
to different
lambda point in the ND experiment that allows for different exposure times
but same gains.
This came out to be our solution with the Nikon tech support. Actually the
system is designed by Prairie Technologies,
and we have been told that the drrvers for camera acquisition were optimized
for Hamamatsu cameras,
so these drivers need to be carefully adapted to andor devices in order to
have a good timing and triggering control.
NIkon worked with us  a lot in order to solve some NIS problem dealing with
the hardware control.
I cannot be more precise at the moment because the colleague directly
involved within is now in holidays.

I will try to acquire other information in the next days.

My best
MArco
