Dear Colleagues,

The NorMIC Oslo Imaging Platform is organizing a four-day workshop on Biological Imaging Processing, from 23rd (Tuesday) to 26th (Friday)  of October 2018.

The workshop is tailored to biologists using light microscopy, who wish to progress into quantitative image processing. The workshop consists of morning theory
lectures and practical sessions in the afternoon. The lectures will be open to the public, while the practical sessions will be reserved for the workshop registrants.

The workshop is centered at the quantitative imaging aspect and treats the processing as a form of re-imaging as opposed to focusing on pixel operations and
digital manipulations. The course starts with the imaging, sampling, restoration processes and only then introduces measurements and finally object detection,
counting, and tracking. It concludes with writing scripts, testing them, and data evaluation.

Keywords: deconvolution, edge detection, filtering, image restoration, imaging, macros, photometry, sampling, scripts, segmentation, tracking.

Location: Department of Biosciences, University of Oslo, Blindern, Oslo

Workshop Dates: 23-26 Oct 2018

Faculty: Rainer Heintzmann, Jena, Germany; Felix Margadant, Singapore; Ping Chin Cheng, Buffalo, USA; Kay Schink; Oslo,  Jonas Øgaard, Oslo; Frode Skjeldal, UiO; Linda Haugen, UiO; Xian Hu (Edna), Singapore and Oslo, Oddmund Bakke, Oslo.
