Dear All-

Many of you use OME-TIFF for multi-dimensional fluorescence and other
modalities (https://docs.openmicroscopy.org/ome-model/5.6.4/ome-tiff). A
couple of updates on OME-TIFF:

1. OME is releasing an update to the format that supports multi-resolution
files, i.e., TIFFs supporting multi-resolution zooming. All the details are
at
https://blog.openmicroscopy.org/file-formats/community/2018/11/29/ometiffpyramid/.
This will be useful for whole slide imaging data, but also those of you who
collect alot of tiled data with your confocal microscopes.

2. We'll be at the upcoming Images 2 Knowledge meeting (
https://www.embl.de/training/events/2018/IMJ18-01/) talking about updates
to file formats, libraries, and asking why vendors and developers are
implementing their own OME-TIFF (and most often getting it wrong) instead
of using the open source libraries that exist for Java and C++, and soon,
Python.  We look forward to continuing these discussions.

As always, we welcome your feedback either here or at OME's Forums--
https://www.openmicroscopy.org/support/.

Cheers,

Jason
