Research Technician or Specialist (Microscope Maintenance and Optical
Potentiometry)
The Stowers Institute for Medical Research has an opening for a Research
Technician or Research Specialist to support the department of Advanced
Instrumentation and Physics.
Responsibilities include maintenance of wide field and confocal microscopes
and support of our development projects in the field of advanced microscopy.
The successful candidate will help to set up a system to measure membrane
potentials using optical methods, including two-photon microscopy and
second-harmonic generation.
In addition to excellent communications skills, and the ability to work in a
team-oriented environment, the successful candidate will have experience in
microscopy or with other optical methods. Basic knowledge in handling of
cells is helpful.
Minimum requirements include an undergraduate degree in physics,
engineering, biology or a related field with two years of working experience
or master thesis and a strong academic background.
