There is an opening in the lab of my current supervisor, Rainer Friedrich: http://www.fmi.ch/Careers/JobDetails.html?jobID=254


This could be a highly attractive job for PhD students, postdocs or otherwise qualified people who want to carry out some creative and technically challenging work in the life sciences, but not on the basis of temporary contracts. A strong background is expected in at least one of the following areas:


 - Advanced analysis of neural data and programming

 - Optic engineering

 - Machine learning approaches and data processing for connectomics

 - Design and control of custom laboratory instruments


I can highly recommend the lab and the lab head. In my opinion, Basel is a nice city for young families, and a good place for people who enjoy outdoor activities and/or the mountains.
