The Biochemistry Optical Core at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks to hire a service-oriented scientist with excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. The ideal candidate will enjoy moving science forward using the core facilities state-of-the-art imaging resources. The responsibilities of the Manager include, but are not limited to, instrument operation, scheduling, maintenance, user training, outreach, and advising users on image and data analyses tasks.
The individual should have extensive practical expertise in biological sample preparation and hands-on knowledge of multiple microscope modalities including, laser scanning and spinning disk confocal, wide-field fluorescence, TIRFM, and bright-field light microscopy. Super resolution experience is preferred. Additional expertise in image analysis approaches is a plus. This position will assist users design and carry out experimental protocols, train individuals in the use of various microscopes, align microscopes and keep the facility operating at an efficient and high level of productivity.
