There are no solutions or instruments that
will accomplish everything! When I was faced with a similar situation, I made
a list of the top modalities that were needed and moved on from there. In the
end we went for separate confocals because of alignment and proximity issues. However,
we do change stages for certain applications and with the Leica SP5 this is trivial
and gives us some much needed flexibility.
