May I draw your attention to a short article by Professor Boyde relating to early experiences with tandem scanning (i.e. spinning disk) confocal microscopy in the June infocus magazine (issue 34), Proc RMS, pp. 80-81.

I was reminded about a discussion on this list several months ago on this topic.
