To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy Post images on http://www.imgur.com and include the link in your posting. ***** To all-- As List manager for the confocal listserv, I think all of us greatly value the contributions of our members who work in the private sector. However, we occasionally have had commercial postings that have bordered on spam or that threaten to provoke partisan squabbles. To avoid this problem, I ask all commercial posters to abide by the following policy: 1) You're welcome to post queries on the list. 2) You're welcome to respond to queries or comments posted by other list members. In the course of doing so, you're welcome to mention your organization's products, as long as it's relevant and brief. If you mention your company's products, please state in the subject line that it's a commercial response, to keep things transparent. 3) You're welcome to post links to announcements of web-seminars, etc, as long as they'd be of interest to most members of the list. Again, please mention in the subject line that it's a commercial posting if you do this. 4) Please do NOT post product announcements, marketing surveys, etc. However, you're welcome to send a one-sentence description including a link to your web site. Again, please mention in the subject line that it's a commercial posting. If anyone has any questions about this policy or suggestions for its improvement, let me know. --This policy is revised and re-posted periodically as necessary--my apologies to all of you who already know most of it by heart, and my appreciation to all in the private sector who have been abiding by it faithfully. I definitely understand why companies would want to advertise on the listserv, but the consequence of this is that I've found more and more of my colleagues are just forwarding listserv emails to their junk folder. This unfortunately means questions are more likely to go unanswered, and fewer people will want to openly share their expertise simply because they don't want to wade through a multitude of commercial posts. Along these lines, I would like to thank the many companies on the listserv that go the extra mile to play fair by the listserv guidelines, taking time to share their expertise and answer questions objectively at their own expense, while forgoing the opportunity to simply self-advertise. In my opinion, openly sharing one's knowledge is the best advertisement for a company anyway. I really appreciate all the good this listserv does at disseminating invaluable expertise and information, so I don't want to see that lost as more and more people tune out the listserv due to ever increasing amounts of commercial advertising. First of all, I’d like to sincerely apologize since I think your post was referring to my last emails to the list. It’s not our intention at all to abuse from the Confocal listserv. We’ve sent 3 emails (newsletters) in one year to tell the community about our progress with the plenoptic eyepiece for lightfield microscopy. As I’ve told Mr. Wessendorf we are not microscopists but we want to contribute to helping the community with our imaging solutions. The expertise we can share is about Fourier lightfield microscopy, therefore that will be what we will do from now on. You won’t see any more commercial posts from our side. Sorry again for the inconvenience. All the best.
