Medical Systems, a member of the Roche Group, is seeking exceptional cross-disciplinary
candidates for the position of Staff Image Scientist/Software Engineer. Technology
and Applied Research at Ventana is active in driving innovation and application
of imaging technology to support new advances in tissue based cancer
diagnostics. This senior-level position is expected to work within
our innovation unit(s), as well as collaborate externally, with a number of research teams from different
disciplines (medicine, materials science, immunochemistry & biochemistry,
analytical chemistry, molecular biology, engineering and imaging technology) to
help apply and develop novel analytical imaging approaches to tissue-based
cancer diagnostic questions.
Qualifications
include advanced technical knowledge of classical and quantitative biological
microscopy and digital imaging technology, image processing toolkits, rapid
prototyping and data analysis software, experience with bio-chemical and bio-physical
imaging methods. The ideal candidate will have expert level competency in photometric and morphometric image data acquisition
and analysis, and excellent written and verbal communications skills. An in-depth knowledge and understanding of
advanced mathematical image/signal processing algorithms such as those used in
hyper-spectral un-mixing and analysis, 3-D spatial deconvolution, fluorescence
lifetime analysis, fluorescence correlation
spectroscopy, FRAP, optical tomography etc. is highly desired. Practical
knowledge in one or more areas of histology/histochemistry, immunochemistry, molecular
biology, analytical chemistry, spectroscopy, classical and/or laser optics,
electrical engineering, machine vision and/or high-throughput imaging or high-content
screening are also a plus. An advanced degree in biological sciences, medicine,
chemistry or biomedical engineering provides a strong foundation for
interdisciplinary biomedical research activities and is preferred.
