Molecular imaging unit (MIU, www.miu.helsinki.fi) is located at the dynamic
and international environment of Biomedicum Helsinki, University of Helsinki. The unit has over 150 users from several research programs, departments and institutes. The unit contains state-of-the-art instruments including Cellomics ArrayScan high-content screening platform, Zeiss LSM 5 Duo point and laser scanning confocal microscope, Zeiss LSM510 META laser scanning confocal microscope, Zeiss/3i Stallion live-cell imaging system, and epifluorescence research microscopes. Imaging software includes MediaCybernetics ImageProPlus and Autoquant deconvolution software. Molecular Imaging Unit at the Biomedicum Helsinki, University of Helsinki, is searching for Imaging Coordinator The position will be available in August 2009. You will lead our microscopy core facility team. Your will coordinate all aspects of the daily activities of the core facility and the core facility personnel. You will oversee the use and maintenance of all instruments, including servers and storage space and imaging software, new instrument acquisitions, maintenance of MIU web pages, including an online reservation system, billing, as well as user training, communication, troubleshooting, and documentation. You will organize teaching courses and imaging research symposia, and participate in the organization of imaging infrastructure activities. The imaging analyst is expected to have extensive background training in microscopy and a Ph.D. / M.Sc./ M.Sc.Tech. degree or equivalent. Ability to communicate in English is essential in our multinational environment. Computer skills are highly desired. The salary for the present post will be based on level 9 of the demands framework for other personnel, i.e. those not working in teaching and research posts, in the new salary system of Finnish universities, and the job-specific component of the salary will thus be EUR 2543,43 per month. In addition, the appointee will be paid a salary component based on personal work performance, which will be, at most, 46,3% of the job-specific component.
