Dear colleagues,

the following position is open immediately. Please make sure to address your replies correctly ;-)

Leader of Core Facility "Advanced Microscopy and Imaging"
The Biozentrum of the University of Basel, an internationally renowned Life Sciences
research institute, invites applications for the Leader of its new Core Facility for
"Advanced Microscopy and Imaging". We are looking for an enthusiastic person that
combines technical expertise with communication skills. The ideal candidate will have
experience with state-of-the art instrumentation (e.g. wide-field, laser scanning,
spinning-disk, two-photon and/or super-resolution microscopy), microscopy techniques
(such as time-lapse live cell imaging, FRAP, FRET, FCS, etc.) and imaging software.
He/she is expected to set up and maintain an assembly of state-of-the art instruments,
teach users in basic and advance microscopy, and provide assistance with the choice of
instrumentation, the design of imaging experiments and data analysis. To accomplish
these tasks, he/she will have an opportunity to assemble a small team, including IT
specialists. The Biozentrum offers an outstanding scientific environment and a
competitive salary, while Basel provides a high standard of living and a superb cultural
atmosphere. Applications (ideally in electronic form), including CV, list of publications
and a short summary of past experience, should be addressed to Urs Fürstenberger,
Biozentrum, Klingelbergstrasse 50, 4056 Basel, Switzerland
([hidden email]). This position is open until filled; we aim for a starting
date in 2010. For informal enquiries please contact Prof. Dr. Erich A. Nigg
([hidden email], phone: +41 (0)61 267 16 56). The University of Basel is an
equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from female candidates.

With my best wishes
