Position available - Microscopy Specialist in Duke University Light Microscopy Core Facility

A position is available for a microscopy specialist in the Light Microscopy Core Facility at Duke University (Durham, NC) . The job involves training and assisting users of the facility with a broad range of imaging systems. Applicants with a range of scientific backgrounds will be considered - from BS to PhD.

The facility provides access to microscopes and image analysis resources for the entire Duke University and Medical Center campus. The facility contains Zeiss 510 and Leica SP5 confocals and several MetaMorph-driven microscopes. The full list of resources in the facility is here.

The position involves a broad range of responsibilities associated with assisting users with the microscopes and general running of the facility. The position is diverse and interesting and would suit a candidate eager to enhance their existing microscopy existing skills. 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Training users on the various microscopes in the facility
  • Collaboration with users on certain projects
  • Trouble-shooting imaging problems
  • Maintenance of microscopes

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in a scientific discipline
  • Research experience with microscopes (ideally MetaMorph and confocals)
  • Strong computer skills
  • Good communication skills
Salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience.

I know Jason Kait, formerly with Nikon is looking for a job.  This sounds perfect for him but I don't have his contact information.  Travis, who still works for Nikon should know.  I know that Mark Mistretta (Prior) has his contact info. as well.
