Institute of Biotechnology at the University of Helsinki is seeking a post
doctoral fellow in high-content microscopy and data analysis. lnstitute of Biotechnology is an independent international research unit at the University of Helsinki ranked in the top ten in European life sciences in terms of citations. The institute focuses on Integrative Biology in the areas of molecular cell biology, genomics in model organisms and plants, developmental biology, and structural biology & biophysics, and is launching integrative programs in Quantitative Biology and Patterning Dynamics. The Institute offers state-of-the-art facilities in imaging, model organisms, proteomics, genomics, crystallography and NMR. The Institute is located in Viikki on the acclaimed life sciences campus of the University of Helsinki. Helsinki, the capital of the Republic of Finland, is a modern city with over half a million residents and is situated on the Baltic Sea. Post-doctoral position is open starting from September 2010. The post will be filled for the years 2010 - 2011, optionally for 2012. Position is financed by Biocenter Finland Infrastructure Network funding. The salary will be based on the level 5 (currently 2637 - 3857 e/month) of the demand level chart for university.level teaching and research staff of the salary system of Finnish universities. The position is affiliated with Light Microscopy Unit and Genome Biology Unit. The duties include user training and support for an upcoming HCA confocal microscope as well as acquiring and implementing high content image analysis setup. The recruit is expected to participate actively in research projects.
