OPTICAL CONTROL OF SYNAPTIC PLASTICITY
At the Department of Biomedicine, Faculty of Medicine and Odontology, a full-time
temporary postdoctoral position is available for three (3) years.
The position is part of the Top Research project “Molecular control of Arc protein:
decoding a master regulator of synaptic plasticity and cognition”, funded by the Research
Council of Norway. The project is led by Professor Clive Bramham of the Neuroscience
Research Group.

Project
The project team is multidisciplinary with expertise in molecular and cellular neuroscience
and protein structural biology. This postdoctoral project focuses on optical methods for
regulating protein activity.
Qualifications
The applicant must have a doctoral degree in cellular or molecular neuroscience, live-cell
imaging technology, or a related discipline. Experience is the following areas is an
advantage: 1) Development of fluorescent fusion proteins for live-cell imaging
applications, 2) experience with synaptic cell biology.
The candidate should be proficient in written and oral English
Personal skills will be emphasized. The candidate should be able to work independently
and interactively in a team setting, be motivated and responsible, and also have a great
work capacity and enthusiasm for research
Salary
Salary level 57 (at present NOK 483 700 gross per year), with a degree in Medicine or
Dentistry level 59 (at present NOK 501 300 gross per year).
