The project will focus on G-protein signaling in the protozoan parasite Giardia lamblia. The long term goal of this NIH-funded project is to define the role of Giardia's sole Rho GTPase in the regulation of the cytoskeleton and membrane trafficking. As the Giardia genome only contains a single Rho GTPase and a handful of upstream modulators, the system is highly tractable and its study may uncover fundamental biology and novel therapeutic strategies. See our lab website for more information http://paredezlab.biology.washington.edu. Review of applications will begin February 15, 2015, and continue until the position is filled. The position is available immediately; however, the start date is negotiable.
