Postdoc Position

The Charles L. Brown Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Virginia invites candidates for a post-doctoral Research Associate position working jointly in the laboratory of Dr. Daniel Weller and in the Keck Center for Cellular Imaging with Dr. Ammasi Periasamy. This prestigious Hobby Postdoctoral Fellowship in Computational Science is intended to provide both research and educational training for those excited about pursuing an academic career at the intersection of electrical engineering and biomedicine. This fellowship provides mentoring and training in developing novel image analysis techniques, preparing grants, teaching, presenting at scientific meetings, and publishing in peer-reviewed journals. Candidates must have a PhD in electrical engineering, computer engineering, biomedical engineering, physics, or a related area, by the appointment start date. Candidates must have a record of productivity in image analysis research and effective oral and written communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates proficient in software development, especially with Java, ImageJ, and MATLAB, and with experience in fluorescence microscopy imaging.

The initial appointment is for one year. This appointment may be renewed for additional one-year increments, contingent upon available funding and satisfactory performance.
