A postdoctoral position is available immediately to work on the mechanisms that filamentous fungi use to deconstruct lignocellulose. The position will be at the USDA Forest Products Laboratory on the campus of the University of Wisconsin, Madison, USA. The research will use confocal fluorescence microscopy and novel immobilized fluorophores to produce quantitative maps of the ligninolytic oxidants that fungi produce in wood. The successful applicant will be a self-motivated and creative person with a sound technical background in microscopy and quantitative analysis of image data. Experience in confocal fluorescence microscopy and microbiological techniques is highly desirable. To be considered for the position, applicants must have already published work in one or more well-recognized international scientific journals. The salary will be commensurate with qualifications, and funds are available for at least one year with a possible extension. If interested, please send a CV and names of three references to Prof. Ken Hammel at
