Postdoctoral Position at Emory University

A post-doctoral position is available at the Emory University Department of Pediatrics in the fluorescence microscopy laboratory studying the mechanisms of enveloped virus entry/fusion and host-pathogen interactions. We employ a variety of quantitative microscopy approaches, including time-resolved single virus tracking, super-resolution imaging, TIRF microscopy and correlative fluorescence-electron microscopy. New directions include the development of single-molecule force probes to delineate the mechanics of virus-cell interactions. The laboratory is equipped with a Zeiss LSM880 Airyscan super-resolution spectral confocal microscope with FCS capability, a wide-field deconvolution DeltaVision microscope, and a three-color TIRF microscopy system. Highly motivated individuals interested in applying advance imaging techniques to cell biology and virology problems are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in biophysics, cell biology, virology or related areas. Fluorescence microscopy/image processing experience is a plus. Emory University provides an excellent collaborative environment and research support. For more information regarding the projects in the laboratory, please visit our websites: http://www.pediatrics.emory.edu/divisions/infectiousdisease/research/melikian/index.html and http://www.pedsresearch.org/research-group/melikian-lab.
