Postdoctoral position on high-throughput imaging systems for neuroanatomical mapping
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral Research Associate to join the group of Prof. Pavone at
the European Laboratory for Non-linear Spectroscopy, to develop novel high-throughput microscopy
methods for large-scale neuroanatomical mapping. The successful candidate will implement a multi-channel
inverted light-sheet microscope dedicated to cleared human samples, ensuring also proper management of
the large amount of data produced. This research will be part of two top-tier international projects where
the lab is involved, i.e. the Human Brain Project and the US BRAIN initiative.
The applicant must have significant expertise in design and realization of optical systems, including the
development of custom electronics and management software. A PhD degree with background in
Physics/Optics/Engineering is required. Previous research experience in neuroscience is appreciated. Fluency
in English, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary international
environment are required.
The successful applicant will be hired with a research fellowship ("Assegno di ricerca") at the University of
Florence. She/he will have the opportunity to work in the collaboration with top-class researchers in Europe
and in US, and to interact with private companies working the imaging and image analysis field. Preliminary
applications, including CV, list of publications and statement of research interests should be sent to Prof.
Francesco S. Pavone ([hidden email]). Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue
until the position is filled.
