Postdoctoral research position - cell mechanics
Position description: A joint postdoctoral research position is open in the labs of Adam Hendricks and Allen Ehrlicher at McGill University, <>using applied physics, live cell imaging, photoactivation, and optical tweezers to examine the molecular mechanisms that govern the dynamic mechanical properties of living cells and how perturbations of cellular mechanics are related to disease. <>
Requirements: Research in the Ehrlicher and Hendricks labs encompasses approaches from physics, engineering, and cell biology. Successful applicants will have demonstrated excellence in one or more of these fields, and importantly an interest and ability to work across disciplines. Specifically, we seek applicants with strong backgrounds physics/engineering with experience in fluorescence microscopy (confocal, TIRF, FRET, FRAP, PALM/STORM), biophysics (mechanobiology, optical tweezers, biological materials), and cell biology (cell culture, transfections, protein purification). Preference will be given to applicants who completed their PhD degrees within the past three years.
How to apply: Interested applicants should email the following items as a single pdf to
[hidden email] with the subject “postdoc position – cell mechanics”: (1) a CV, (2) the names of two references (3) a sample publication, and (4) a research statement that briefly describes scientific questions you would like to pursue during your postdoctoral research, and potential experiments to answer those questions (1-2 pages). Incomplete applications will not be considered.
