Hi all,

As part of the ESRIC super resolution summer school this year we are very fortunate to have the company of Dr Eric Betzig, one of last year’s winners of the Nobel prize for Chemistry.  The prize was won jointly with Stefan Hell and William Moerner for their pioneering work in the development of super resolution microscopy. Eric together with Harald Hess developed Photoactivation Localisation Microscopy (PALM) using photoactivatable fluorescent proteins.

He will be talking about this and his exciting current projects developing new imaging methodologies including lattice light sheet microscopy at Janelia Research Campus in Virginia.

The lecture will take place on Wednesday 5th August, 6.30pm-9pm at the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh.  Its a ticketed event but they are free on a first come first serve basis and are available on the ESRIC website:

You can read more about Eric and his work here:

This really is a rare opportunity to see one of the leaders in the microscopy field and i'm sure it will be a fascinating talk with wide appeal.

Hope to see many of you there.

Thanks,

The ESRIC Committee
