Dear all,

The National Cancer Institute has announced a Request for Information (RFI) about imaging data. Several e-mail correspondences on the confocal listserv have raised the issues of data handling and data analysis facing the microscopy field. This is an opportunity for you to bring this issue to the attention of the funders. I urge you to think about the various issues you would like to discuss

This is of course also an important and rare opportunity for BINA (BioImaging North America) to respond as a collective voice and establish this nascent network as a dialogue partner for national funding agencies.  While you can certainly respond directly to this RFI, you can also lend your voice to the collective response by submitting your respond to us and we will collate (and edit if necessary) and submit this as the voice of the community from BINA. The only thing we strongly discourage is for you to stay silent if this issue was of great importance to you.

BINA is working on our response and we will post the draft on Slack so that folks can comment on it prior to submission.

More details of this RFA can be found here:
NOT-CA-18-060: NCI Request for Information (RFI): Input on Development of the NCI Imaging Data Commons
NIH Funding Opportunities and Notices in the NIH Guide for Grants and Contracts: NCI Request for Information (RFI): Input on Development of the NCI Imaging Data Commons NOT-CA-18-060. NCI

I want to thank Richard Conroy of the NIH for bringing this to our attention.

Regards,
Leong

Hi everyone,

I have uploaded the draft of BINA’s official response to this RFI (see below) to our Slack platform. Please take a look and let me know if there is anything you would like us to add to the document.

The deadline is May 4. I do need at least a day to consolidate the comments/edits. So please kindly send me your response (private e-mail is fine) by May 2.

Thanks everyone,
Leong
