This highly successful and excellently rated course often attracts delegates from across the globe. The Course is built from 3 Modules, a “Fundamentals in Flow” module on Days 1 and 2, and then more specialised modules running in Days 3-5. You can choose to attend all week, just the fundamentals or more specialised modules depending on your needs. - Module 1 (Days 1-2), although no prior knowledge of flow cytometry is assumed, it is also useful for more experienced users. It will give you a firm grounding in the basics of flow cytometry. There is also a strong emphasis on practical application and four practical sessions are included. The later Modules assume that you have some basic knowledge of flow cytometry (which can be obtained by taking Module 1). - Module 2, Clinical Applications, will include practical sessions and lectures on applications including immunophenotyping leukaemias, quality control, applications to transplantation and blood transfusion, apoptosis, AIDS and cytokines. - Module 3, Applications in Cell Biology, includes a diverse range of lectures and practicals that also help demonstrate various aspects of flow cytometry that can be carried through to other experiments types. This includes cell cycle studies, apoptosis, cell proliferation, receptor quantification, use of fluorescent proteins, FRET, further compensation, microbiology/bacterial and analysis of small particles, antibody titrations as well as discussing new probes and instrumentation developments. Many of these come with live practical sessions. This year, international delegates are able to take advantage of the current exchange rate which makes this course even more attractive to our overseas delegates who will also get time to explore the amazing historic city of York. With the largest medieval gothic cathedral in northern Europe, famous medieval streets with influence from the Romans to Vikings and a unique shopping experience, there has never been a better time to learn more than just flow cytometry!
