Participants numbers are limited to permit a full hand-on experience and trained in practical issues surrounding light microscopy. After introductory presentations, the course is taught predominantly through these hands-on practical sessions. The programme is available to view below. The course is suitable for both novices and more experienced users wanting to gain a greater understanding of the microscope and feedback every year is always fantastic. Delegates come from a wide range of backgrounds and with differing skills, within both research and commercial organisations. All benefited greatly from the Course and left with increased understanding and skills. For more information or to book a place on the course go to https://www.rms.org.uk/discover-engage/event-calendar/light-microscopy-summer- school-2019.html <https://www.rms.org.uk/discover-engage/event-calendar/light-microscopy-summer-school-2018.html> The course is immediately followed by a two day hands-on Confocal Course - Getting the most from your Confocal ( https://www.rms.org.uk/discover-engage/event-calendar/getting-the-most-from-your-confocal-course-2019.html <https://www.rms.org.uk/discover-engage/event-calendar/getting-the-most-from-your-confocal-course-2018.html> ) York as a location is one of the most friendly and historic cities in the UK. From medieval streets to Victorian walls, the huge Gothic medieval cathedral (York Minster) to one of the largest rail museums in the world. The course is excellent, and the venue is simply stunning. The days are practical heavy, but engaging and fun, whilst the evening allow time to soak up the City itself.
