To join, leave or search the confocal microscopy listserv, go to: http://lists.umn.edu/cgi-bin/wa?A0=confocalmicroscopy ***** To the cytometry community, The 2011 Northwest Regional Cytometry Meeting focuses on* "Cytometry data: Mining, modeling, and management".* The meeting addresses the challenges of analyzing and managing copious multivariate data, with discussions relating to noise, inferring from small numbers, multi-site comparisons, correlative visualization, and automated gating/analysis. In addition to the primary focus on flow cytometry, there will also be presentations relating to mass cytometry, chemical cytometry, and electron tomography. Speakers include Garry Nolan, Norm Dovichi, Manfred Auer, Masanobu Yamamoto, Gregory Kaduchak, Joe W. Gray, J. Paul Robinson, Ed Walker, Maria James, Ryan Brinkman, Ger van den Engh, Bob Zigon, Bill Ortyn, Bruce Bagwell, and Dave Novo. The meeting is an umbrella as well for the FICCS7 computational cytometry meeting on March 24, two FlyCyte courses, *Data Analysis* and * Standardization*, software practicums, and cytometry for high school teachers. The poster abstract deadline is February 15th, registration deadline March 19th. Registration and brochure is at www.ohsu.edu/ohrc , 2011NWRCM caption to the left. The 2011 NWRCM is an umbrella for a number of events: the FICCS computational cytometry meeting on the 24th, two FloCyte courses, one on the 24th (“Data analysis”) and one on the 26th (“Standardization”), NWRCM plenary sessions and vendor talks on the 24th and 25th, and software practicums and cytometry for teachers on the 26th. Some of these events are concurrent, for example, the FICCS meeting and FloCyte Data analysis course. Likewise on Saturday, March 26th, the FloCyte course on standardization, FlowJo practicum for programmers, and cytometry for high school teachers are concurrent. The other software practicums arranged for Saturday, practicums on Gemstone, FCS Express, Cytobank, InCyte, and Accuri, will be scheduled on the basis of registrations. The online registration form includes check-offs for each of the practicums. From these preferences I will be able to see what overlaps, and what doesn’t, and to arrange times accordingly. Many of the practicums will be held in whole or part in the early morning before 10am. This will allow people who are taking the FloCyte standardization course or FlowJo for programmers to also take in at least part of the other practicums.
