Subject: Diode laser replacements for Argon lasers.

In our Leica TCS, our Argon laser had been abused, and may be a little wobbly in its intensity.

I do not know what I should be looking for in checking this laser output for % stability with a wattmeter.

We are thinking of a 488nm diode or DPSS replacement.  I can handle the SMF alignment, but am trying to avoid excessive pain.
It would be nice to use the front panel intensity control, or will it all be via the sliders now?

Are there any suggestions as to diode laser replacements people have used in Sp2s?

JDSU lumentum  -
Coherent sapphire

Diodes
Osram  PLT5 60mW (more than I need)
Or
Sharp Sharp 490nm - 495nm GH04850B2G (closer to 488 really) very cheap.

One possible way is to do re-tubing of the old Argon laser, maybe less
effort.
Just FYI.

Hi Ethan, replacements for Argon lasers and re-tubing of Argon lasers has
been discussed previously on the forum. I suggest you search back through
the logs as you will find quite a bit of useful information in the archives
on this subject.
