The dust problem has not been fixed to a satisfactory level for the W1 system. It is true that Yokogawa has “designed” and provided a fix, which essentially consists of a bunch of metal shields to try and compartmentalise better the interior of the scanner (i.e. electronics, ventilators, optics). However, in our experience the problem remains and after an intense cleaning by a technician the disk collects dust particles after 1-2 weeks, and we sometimes see bright auto-fluorescent particles in individual frames. The bright-spot problem gets worse within months and makes image processing unnecessary complicated. I must stress here that this dust problem is caused by a suboptimal design of the entire optical compartment and its air sealing. This problem cannot be fixed easily. Regards, Ivo A.
