Thanks for all of the valuable feedback on this. I'm going to bring it up
with the Zeiss service manager and see what we can do. My main goal is to
stop this problem at the root. So if it is a matter of setting up stage
stops or replacing the seals on the lenses every few years I think that is
better than repairing damaged lenses. Perhaps all the microscope
manufactures should have things set up so lenses can't crash into stage
under normal operating conditions and that seals on lenses are maintained
over the long term.
