Thank you all for the discussion on lighting options. I did not post the names
of what we used now, but noticing the interested perhaps I should have.

We are currently using Dot-It for parts of the optical bench. An example is:

http://www.osram.com/osram_com/Consumer/Luminaires/LED_mobile_helpers/
DOT-it_Family/index.html

I have noticed now there is a directional version, that could be interesting for
the stage.

For the microscope stage I often use this lamp from Thorlabs.

Thanks to you I now have a better idea of how to improve the system

That Dot-it light looks pretty good; the spotlight function looks like it
would help keep down light pollution.
