This posting is to invite you to provide input towards making the Insight Toolkit (ITK) easier to learn and use. ITK is an open-source, cross-platform system that provides developers with an extensive suite of software tools for image analysis. The ITK effort has received support from NIH and especially NLM.
ITK employs cutting-edge algorithms for registering and segmenting multidimensional data. User feedback has indicated that ITK's power comes with a steep learning curve, sometimes over-complicating simple tasks. In an effort to address this concern we, the ITK development team, are developing a simplified layer that will provide fast and intuitive access to ITK's functionality.
We are developing a "simple layer" over the standard ITK API. As we begin the development, we want to make sure we are building towards the goals of the image analysis community. Especially, we would like to be able to consider the needs of the optical microscopy community. In that vein, we are conducting a survey to gather user input forSimpleITK.
