Research Technician in Super-resolution Microscopy

Description
We are looking for an individual to run an advanced microscopy and imaging core, housed in a new facility in
the Stein Eye Institute at UCLA. The facility is fully equipped, including the following major new equipment
items: a fully-loaded OMX Super-resolution microscope (for SIM and STORM), a Nikon spinning disk
microscopy, and a JEOL transmission electron microscope (fitted for EM tomography).
The incumbent will become expert in the use of the microscopes, administer their use, and train and work with
users, employing a variety of fixed-cell and live-cell methods. There would be the opportunity for meaningful
participation in research projects. The position could be filled by an individual who already has experience with
advanced microscopy, or an individual who has basic microscopy experience and whom we would train in the
more advanced methods (rank/salary would be commensurate with experience).
The position requires an individual who is enthusiastic about microscopy, has strong organizational skills, is
energetic, proactive and innovative in helping researchers, and has interpersonal skills and the ability to
explain and instruct in the use of state-of-the-art microscopy and imaging analysis. The incumbent should
have at least some experience with microscopy, and is expected to become a resource on the technology of
super-resolution microscopy.
