I wish to thank everyone on this listserver for their helpfulness in answering my questions and the many informative discussions on microscopy and imaging. I’ve been subscribed since shortly after PC Cheng set up the server in his lab at SUNY Buffalo for users of the new-fangled confocal instruments. It created a community that expanded with field. My email address will remain active, however any inquiries regarding the Digital Microscopy Center should be directed to my replacement, Kim Miller, [hidden email]. Now there is no excuse to come up to BC wine country for a visit. I very much miss our many years of supporting Jim Pawley and the 3D Microscopy of Living Cells Course in Vancouver, BC. Thanks for Vancouver. Without the crew of the Vancouver courses, I won’t be where I am (probably can't learn mouth pipetting anywhere else :)). I try to force Felix and PC to write a response but they are both flying around like mad as usual. PC’s plane landed in Narita instead of somewhere in the US, typical……probably very unhappy now… Well, me have a long way to go before retirement so I have mountains of work in front of me….quite jealous of you from that point of view….. We hope that your retirement will be as much a success as your professional contributions were. During our long exhausting work nights in Vancouver you showed me how much better imaging could actually be than my miserable efforts during my PhD time. Those multi-channel images were true eye openers and I still realize how far from the cutting edge my work has been before I got educated and elucidated by you guys!!! I am still a terrible microscopist after all these years but now I know at least what to aim for with my contraptions. And I am still indebted to you for all your support and help starting my current career. I hope that we can find a reason to visit you in the foreseeable future. All the Best, Felix |
