Hey Glen,
if you can run Sophos via the command line, you might be able to scan via a shutdown script. I used the procedure from the following two pages to assign a script that resets camera parameters at user logoff.
The directions detail accessing and assigning scripts in the Group Policy editor in the Microsoft Management Console.
This first page,
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307882 , provides directions for opening the Group Policy Editor in WinXP. Go to the section titled, "How to Start the Group Policy Editor".
This next page,
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/gptext_assigncomputershutdownscripts.mspx?mfr=true , provides directions for assigning shutdown scripts in the Group Policy object snap-in.
Hope that helps,
Nate

My uni's licensed anti-virus application is Sophos and it does not have the ability to scan on shutdown. Only on startup or at scheduled times. Has anyone found an anti-virus application that can be sheduled to scan at shutdown, or a means to get Windows XP run an anti-virus at shutdown?
Thanks,
Glen
