Scientific officer

Dear all,

our new Biomedical imaging facility (BMIF) at the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia is looking for a scientific officer. The BMIF is a multi-user facility that focuses on fluorescence microscopy including epifluorescnence for live cell imaging, confocal microscopy, spinning disc microscopy, total internal reflection fluorescence (TIRF) microscopy, time-resolved single molecule imaging including fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) and fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS), and 2-photon and intravital microscopy.

Salary Level 6/7: A$61K – A$72K per year (plus 17% superannuation and leave loading)
This is a full-time continuing position
Applications are invited for the role of Scientific Officer in the BioMedical Imaging Facility, a new facility within the UNSW Analytical Centre.  This role manages the day-to-day operation of a range of fluorescent microscopes (listed above) and associated wet laboratory areas and provides training and data interpretation to instrument users. Applicants should have an honours or masters degree in Biology, Life Sciences or a related discipline and practical experience in advanced fluorescence microscopy and image analysis.  Experience with FLIM, FCS and TIRF microscopy and/or a PhD using live cell imaging will be viewed as a significant advantage.
