Senior Research Assistant Position Available athe Molecular Cytology Core Facility at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center
Responsibilities
The MCCF (molecular cytology core facility) identifies and masters technologies for detection and analysis of molecules in their natural environment (in cells, tissues, organs, embryos and tumors).
The facility stays abreast of new technological developments and continues to expand and enhance the research capabilities. Our staff provides consultation, training and technical assistance in the execution of the technologies.
In this position, you will assist multiple users by:

Performing manual and automated experiments using such techniques as immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence and RNA in situ hybridization;
optimizing existing protocols; troubleshooting technical problems, including interfacing with vendors regarding equipment/reagents malfunctions.

You will also coordinate operations and oversee the work of the histology staff; evaluate daily results and train lab staff and users; oversee tissue processing sequence to ensure high quality results.

Perform literature searches to establish new technologies for in situ molecular detection.
·
Help maintain and update the laboratory’s website.
Qualifications
PhD with relevant experience or MS degree with 5 years
or more of laboratory research experience in the fields of molecular biology and embryology. Candidates must have experience in embryo isolation and preparation for molecular in situ detection and microscopy.
Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are essential in this position.
