This is an incredibly exciting time for 3D electron microscopy of biological specimens.  I am looking for an addition to my team based in the US as a consultant for 3D Large Volume Analysis (LVA) of plastic resin embedded cell and tissue specimens.  This is predominately performed with a  Focus Ion Beam (FIB)-SEM or an SEM with an built-in microtome.  https://www.fei.com/life-sciences/large-volume-analysis/

This position is ideal for an experienced professional, with scientific distinction, wanting to be involved with a dynamic team and exposed to a constant variety of customer application areas. Develops strategies to grow Thermo Fisher Scientific market share in the Cell and Tissue Biology electron microscopy field.  Provides technical expertise on relevant products and seen as a scientific expert in the fields of Cell and Tissue Biology.

Responsibilities:
• Deliver bookings and revenue for electron microscopy cell and tissue biology products consistent with the target/budget
• Responsible for proper deployment and execution of the defined AOP’s. Will provide sales strategy and technical guidance to the sales force.  Will be a contact point between the LSBU, Sales, and Applications teams.  Will work directly with the VP of Sales and Service in the Americas in addition to the Technical Sales Manager.
• Establish and maintain relationships with luminaries in the Cell and Tissue Biology fields
• Deliver regional competitive intelligence, including information on funding bodies, to the BU for competitive assessment and regional response packages
• Provides both pre and post-sales support by providing technical information to the costumer; working with the customer from prior to the sale, through delivery and installation.  Will work with the Sales, Applications, and Service groups during the sales process.
• Represent LSBU and Thermo Fisher Scientific at high level meetings with customers and funding agencies
• Working with Technical Sales Manager, Sales Director and Account Managers, to create and execute LS NA Territory Win Sales Strategies
• Assess market requirements for LS Cell and Tissue products in the Americas region and provide feedback on regional market needs to PMMs and the Business Unit
• Support the full sales cycle for Thermo Fisher Scientific LS workflow solutions, including making initial technical contact, providing technical expertise through sales presentations and demonstration support.  Using the Miller Heiman selling process, ensure that all bookings targets in the region are achieved.
• Train the sales force and applications team on Cell and Tissue Biology, company workflows, products and applications through webcasts and in-person training sessions. Field technical questions to enhance account managers’ expertise in LS.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Minimum master degree in Life Sciences with Cell or Tissue biology emphasis or similar discipline, PhD is preferred
• Typically requires 10 years’ experience in a relevant technical environment, specific experience in microscopy markets preferred
• Demonstrated experience in development and support of sales teams
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills and an ability to effectively interact at a senior executive level
• Demonstrated ability to develop deep customer relationships and credibility, to gain insight into customers’ requirements
• Ability to travel both domestically as well as internationally and possession of a valid passport
• Travel requirement ~50%

• Proven business development skills
• Trained in Miller Heiman strategic selling
