The RTC reset button or restarting the system didn't solve the problem. To solve the problem, I had to open up the black box, reseat the NIC card and restart the system. The communication problem has been solved this way, but the troubleshooting caused another problem. When I image my sample with T-PMT (transmission light image), only T-PMT image moves from left to right. Reflective fluorescent images are perfectly fine. In the Live imaging mode T-PMT image keeps moving from left to right as the sample is being scanned. When the image is gone to the right edge, it will come back from the left after a while. The image seems to move by a fixed increment after every frame of scanning. Has anybody had this kind of problem before? I have sent email to Zeiss tech support but no reply so far. Thank you.

The screen movement is aproximately 10% of the screen. It is intermitenly and once it happens you need to restart the PC (Windows). T-PMT image was shifted horizontally, with about 20% of the image switched from the right to left side. If I remember correctly turning off bidirectional scan always fixed this. All reflected channels were fine. Fortunately the problem has gone away now, about the same time Zeiss swapped our old vista PC for a newer model running Windows 7. (Coincidence?) We had that problem on our 510 T-PMT years back. It was electrical interference in the PMT/cabling. We shielded the PMT with chicken wire and the TPMT cable with thick tin foil. The problem went away. You can test this by moving the cable slightly and see if the pattern in the movement is sensitive to the position of the cable. If it is it is likely electrical interference. Good luck! Claire |

Pixel timing information coming from the T-PMT to the RTC to correlate T-PMT signal with the other detectors seemed to be corrupted. As far as I remember the engineer rewired/ reconfigured all the CAN connections and that solved the problem.
