I got good leads on finding an RMS to Nikon adaptor (via Thor labs), as well as good advice on trying this.

Thanks everyone,
Don

This Thor part will work great. I just wanted to caution you to
lightly oil all threads so that the adapter does not seize onto the
objective or microscope revolver. There are notches on one side of the
adapter. Point them towards the objective. If the adapter gets stuck
in the scope, you can use a spanner wrench to remove it if the notches
are facing up. If the adapter gets stuck to objective, you can grab it
with a wrench to unscrew it and will only risk ruining the $12 adapter
and not your objective. It is really easy to get these adapters stuck
if they are dry so just be sure to lightly lubricate. I work with
these often and just wanted to pass along these tips.

Hi All,
Great advice Brad, particularly if there is a chance of a liquid spill around the objective (when doing live cell imaging).

However, can you suggest suitable lubricants please. I can just imagine someone using oil that is slightly volatile (particularly if using an objective heater) - the result is likely a thin film of oil all over the optics. What do you use?

Cheers

I use either light 3-in-1 machine oil, or even Type B lens oil sparingly
applied works well.  Just be careful not to get it on any knurled surfaces
that you grip or it will make it harder to unscrew the adapter in the
future!
